Thread Lifting in Myeongdong, Seoul

A non-surgical lift that uses dissolvable threads to raise sagging tissue, define the jawline and stimulate collagen, with minimal downtime.

What is thread lifting? Thread lifting is a non-surgical facelift in which dissolvable threads made from materials such as PDO, PCL or PLA are inserted into the deeper layers of the skin. The threads lift sagging tissue straight away and, as they gradually dissolve, stimulate collagen to improve elasticity and firmness. The procedure takes about 30–60 minutes under local anaesthesia, and the result continues to improve over 1–2 months.

How it works

How thread lifting works

Fine dissolvable threads are placed under the skin through a thin needle or cannula. Barbs or cones along the thread grip the tissue so it can be repositioned upward, giving an immediate lift to areas such as the cheeks, jawline, nasolabial folds, eyebrows and neck. There are no incisions in the usual sense, which is why recovery is much shorter than with surgery.

Over the following weeks the threads are slowly absorbed by the body. As this happens they stimulate new collagen around the thread path, which improves skin elasticity and firmness. Different materials behave differently: PDO for basic lifting and a collagen boost, PCL for longer-lasting threads, PLA for a strong lift with collagen stimulation, and Silhouette Soft cone-based threads. Your doctor selects the type and number of threads for your face.
